The Austin Stone South Church is a New Testament church located in Austin Texas. It opened its newest and seventh location in 2023! Made of the beautiful Austin stone that the surrounding area is known for. To accentuate that beautiful architecture inside and out, as well as give the Church a warm and inviting vibe, you need some fantastic lighting!
NAL and the Lighting Elements Brand came to their rescue, and was chosen for some key areas in the Church. NAL was tasked with the initial experience when you walk into the lobby and welcoming areas. The Lighting Elements fixtures were:
- S-Light 6060 – With a demanding 60mm x 60mm profile extrusion, the S-Light consists of fluid sweeping arcs that meet to form a sharp and abrupt point when they blend into each other. Making a statement of strength and unity, very welcoming. Simply Stunning!
- Concord – The concord offers a thin, sleek line of light. Do not let that fool you, it has a choice of heights to it, and for this project we used the 8 inch tall fixtures. That is not all! The concord comes wrapped in an acoustic material, with a color of your choosing from our vast color range. You can see here, they chose a well blended grey with white color; our 101; to blend the body away into the surrounding colors. This space was a perfect fit for the Concord, as it is open, airy and can reflect a lot of noise from a lot of points in the space. The Concorde built in acoustic helps reduce and absorb some of that noise, so people are not overwhelmed when they enter that space. This particular massive area has both lit concord fixtures and unlit, acoustic only, Concord fixtures. Very well used.
- The elegant Ring Light finishes off the space. With both 1200mm and 1860mm diameter rings in this space, the sheer size compliments it perfectly! The direct lit element paired with a matte black finish really draws attention to the fixture and invites you into a more common type of area, the welcome lobby.
As you can see, and maybe have experienced, the choice of lighting products, colors, along with subtle elements like an acoustic to cut down on noise and echo, makes the space more inviting and friendly. That is what the Austin Stone South Church wants people to see, and more importantly feel. They have really nailed it in this space and presentation.
